Malmesbury community gets a new life-saving defibrillator.
As the result of a joint venture with the Malmesbury League of Friends (MLOF), we have installed a life-saving defibrillator alongside our main office reception entrance, in Malmesbury.
Automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) have been described as the single most important development in the treatment of sudden cardiac arrest. Designed for use by untrained persons, they have improved the outcomes of literally thousands of people who have suffered from cardiac arrests.
Thanks to the MLOF donation, Hilditch Groups’ defibrillator is a welcome addition to the network of devices, joining a further 25 local parish councils in the area that have already received defib funding from MLOF. MLOF chairman David Hide said: “We are delighted to have worked with Hilditch to enable the installation of a defibrillator at their premises on Gloucester Road Trading Estate, a really good joint community venture.”
Jamie Howes, Hilditch Groups’ Operations Manager said: “We are very grateful to have received this help from MLOF in placing this life-saving facility, which can be used by both our employees and visitors alike.”
To find your local defibrillator visit the Heart Safe or Defib Finder websites. In cases of an emergency, if you believe a person has suffered a sudden cardiac arrest, is unresponsive and not breathing, immediately ring 999 or 112. They will advise you on what action to take, inform you where your nearest defibrillator is located and will walk you through the steps to take to assist in the emergency.
