Selling medical equipment through Hilditch Group’s various routes to sale

Reselling used medical equipment doesn’t have to be complex. At Hilditch Group, we take a comprehensive approach to help maximise the value of your surplus medical assets. By combining our extensive industry knowledge, the skills of our in-house medical engineers, multiple routes to sale and extensive buyer network, we consistently achieve strong sales results for our clients.

Hilditch Group’s extensive industry knowledge

Our expert team brings more than 35 years of industry knowledge and unrivalled market insight. As Europe’s leading medical equipment reseller, there is very little equipment we haven’t sold before – from mobile imaging and patient care equipment to surgical, theatre and anaesthetic machines, ultrasound systems, defibrillators, laboratory equipment and more. Supported by an extensive sales database, we provide accurate, data-led valuations you can trust.

Quality assurance from our in-house medical engineers

Our highly qualified and experienced in-house medical engineers play a crucial role in the resale process, testing, inspecting, repairing and upgrading medical equipment across a wide range of healthcare sectors. Each item is supported by a detailed condition report, giving buyers confidence and driving stronger sales prices.

Multiple routes to sale, tailored to your equipment

Our various routes to sale allow us to assess your equipment and determine the most effective method to achieve the best price. We sell equipment through live webcasts, private sales and our online retail store. This flexibility ensures your equipment is presented to the right buyers, in the right place, at the right time.

Access to a global buyer network

As leaders in the resale of medical equipment, we have built an extensive international network of buyers across every healthcare sector. With many prospective buyers worldwide, we have access to markets you may not have previously considered, unlocking new opportunities.

A simple and supported resale process

Selling equipment via auction is a simple process – no registration is required – instead, you work directly with our dedicated sales team, who will guide you through the process and keep you informed at every stage.

Our end-to-end collection service ensures your equipment is safely and securely transported to our warehouse for cataloguing, photography, storage and resale. Our team arranges appropriate packaging to protect equipment in transit and uses a fleet specifically designed for the safe transport of medical equipment. To learn more about the role of specialist transport when selling medical equipment, read our blog: The importance of specialist transport for second-hand medical equipment.

Once equipment arrives at our warehouse, our engineers carry out a thorough data wiping process to ensure all confidential patient data is removed prior to sale. This guarantees compliance with data protection legislation. Our team is Cyber Essentials Plus certified, ISO 27001 compliant, and aligned with HMG Infosec Standard 5 (High Standard).

For assets that aren’t suitable for resale, we provide responsible disposal services. Our zero-to-landfill policy ensures full compliance with WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations), supporting the healthcare sector’s sustainability and net-zero goals. In this case, equipment is stripped into electrical components and recycled appropriately, with nothing sent to landfill.

Selling through our retail store

In addition to auctions and private sales, our online retail store offers an effective alternative route to market for sellers. Suitable items are carefully selected and listed for immediate purchase at a fixed price, helping to attract buyers who prefer a straightforward, non-auction buying experience.

All products listed on our retail store are inspected by engineers and specifically chosen for sale. Items sold through this route benefit from a three-month warranty (backed by Hilditch), enhancing buyer confidence. Collection, packing, domestic shipping, installation and ongoing maintenance services are also available if required, adding to convenience and buyer peace of mind.

Our retail inventory is continually refreshed and we’re always looking to introduce new equipment to the platform.

There are no additional requirements to sell your equipment via our retail store. Our sales team will advise whether your items are suitable for retail and if so, guide you through the process.

Secure payments and client money protection

Proceeds are paid out by BACS transfer within 20 working days of a sale. At the same time, we send a self-billing invoice detailing lots sold and any charges for collection, data wiping and repairs.

Client Money Protection is mandatory for companies acting as agents in property and chattels auctioning that handle client funds. Hilditch Group is fully compliant, with annual independent Accountant’s Reports carried out as part of our regulatory obligations.

By choosing Hilditch Group, you can be confident that your funds are protected.

Sell with confidence

Whether you’re selling through auction, private sale or retail, Hilditch Group offers a trusted, transparent and secure process designed to deliver the best value for your medical equipment.
